The bar chart illustrates information about the most famous movies by genre among women and men in the USA in 2010, while the pie chart provides data about the percentage of ticket sold for different types of movies.
Overall, it can be seen that action movies were the preferred type of movies among men, while a very significant number of women enjoyed romantic comedy more than men. Around half of people bought ticket for action movies in 2010.
As regards the first graph, about 20% of men and women opted for comedy whereas the number who liked western fell to approximately 10% , which was a significant 50% drop, in relative terms. In contrast, just around one quarter of men preferred action movies, while only 25% of women enjoyed them. On the other hand, romantic comedy, which approximately 30% of women enjoyed, were 6-times more popular with women than they were with men. As the second chart suggests, action movies got 49% of ticket sales among all movie categories while 24% was took by the comedy genre. Finally, 12%,10% and 5% were bought by the romantic, comedy and other types correspondingly.
In conclusion, there was a direct link between the popularity of movies and the percentage of ticket sold in 2010 in the United States.
