These pie charts illustrate the proportion of water used for three purposes in six areas (North America, South America, Europe, Afica, Central Asia and South East Asia) in the word.
Overall, in Europe and North America, the majority portion of the water consumed is for industrial use, while the rest of areas use their water for agricultural mostly. In addition, for all regions, the water for domestic use accounted for the least compared to industrial and agricultural use.
Regarding the countries in Asia and Africa, the percentage allocation of water use seems consistent which means they used over 80% of water for agricultural purpose, consumed 8% averagely for domestic purpose, and around 8% industrial purpose. Although the countries in South America consumed a nearly fourth quarter of water for agricultural activities, they used almost twice as much as water for domestic use compared to countries in Asia and Africa.
On the other hand, the countries in North America and Europe have similar proportion water use for these three purposes. The industrial water use contributed almost half of water use, agricultural water use accounted for about 35%, and rest of the portion of water use was for the domestic purpose.
In conclusion, different regions' country use their water for different activities, and we can tell how their economy develops.
