The charts below show the proportion of people's total spending in a particular European country was spent on different commodities and services in 1958 and 2008.

The given pie charts illustrate the percentage of residents’ sum expenditure on different items in a European nation over two separate years (1958 and 2008).
In general, while the expenses on housing, travel, and luxury goods went up, people spent less money on food, clothing, and entertainment.
As can be seen from the first chart, in 1958, the percentage for spending on food was the highest among all categories at 32%, however, there was a steeply drop to only 12% fifty years later. Similarly, a downward trend was seen in the figure for clothing and entertainment, which decreased by 2% and 7% respectively.
Regarding the second graph, the expenditure on housing went up from 22% in 1958 to 32% in 2008, which was the highest percentage of spending. Meanwhile, money is also spent less more on both travel and luxury goods, which figures experienced a rise to reach the same figure of 17%.
