The charts below delineate the proportions of British Student at one university in England who were able to speak different languages in addition to English. The chart provides the data of two consecutive years (2000 and 2001). French, German and Spanish are the major languages spoken by the students in addition to English.
From the data the most imperative indication is that the percentage the students who didn’t spoke additional language decreased by 10% indicating that higher number of students are taking up new language courses. The percentage of students who speak Spanish in addition to English rose by 5%. Similar trend was seen in the case where students are able to speak more than two languages. Percentage of student speaking additional language apart from French, Spanish and German also rose by 5%. In the case of German and French, there was no change in the former while a decrease around 5% was experienced in the latter case respectively.
