The tables representing data in percentage terms offer a breakdown of the oil reserves in different countries, along with their consumption ratios per annum.
Overall, more than half of the total oil resources is held by the Middle East, however, the biggest consumers are among those keeping the lowest levels of oil stock, namely Asia, United States and Western Europe.
As can be seen from the left graph, following the Middle East’s 56% share, Canada, Central and South America, Eastern Europe and Africa account for another 35% of the total stockpile, with the weights between 5% and 15% per country. Owning a relatively low amount of commodity resources, Asia, United States and Western Europe stand at 1% to 3% range. Lastly, we can see that Australia and New Zealand together with the Other group of countries are responsible for just below 1.5%.
Nevertheless, consumption distribution do not follow the same pattern and reveal that the main takers of oil are Asia, United States and Western Europe, whose weights averaging around 23%. These countries are followed by the Middle East, Central and South America and Eastern Europe, with the total utilisation of about 18%. Canada, Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Other states have roughly similar consumption percentage fluctuating from 1% to 3%.
