The charts below shows what UK graduate and postgraduate students who did not go into full-time work did after leaving college in 2008
The given two charts illustrate the activities (part-time work, voluntary work, further study, unemployment) for the year 2008 of UK graduates, who did not start any full-time work after passing from instituitons.
Firstly, in case of graduate students, part-time work and unemployment are the median of choices among the four. With respect to, further study and voluntary work that are most and least chosen respectively by students, both part-time and unemployment have students above 16,000 and less than 18,000 in each category.
Secondly, for post graduate students, unlike graduate students the ranking among the four categories goes by further study, part-time work, unemployment and then voluntary work. But, in this case, the number of students in further study and part-time work are close, which is 2,725 and 2,535 respectively. This leaves unemployment to 1,625 students followed by the least amount of 345 student in voluntary work.
Overall, the number of both graduates and post-graduates enrolling for higher studies is maximum, accounting for slightly above 32,000 students in total. On the contrary, students preferred least doing voluntary work, which is slightly under a total of 4,000 students.
