In the first line chart, the washing machine was the most common of the three electrical appliances with ownership reaching 40% of households in 1920 and the second place was the vacuum cleaner with 30%. while almost no households owned refrigerators in that year, it increased rapidly and reached 100% in 2019. Likewise, the percentage of households that owned vacuum cleaners observed a significant growth during the same period and reached 100% at the end of the period. Meanwhile, there was a slight reduction in the rates of homes with washing machines from 70% in 1960 to around 60% in 1980, however, it resumed the rising trend and reached over 70% in 2019.
In the second one, in 1920, the amount of time spent doing housework was 50 hours per week per household, however, it declined gradually, to only 10 hours per week at the end of the period.
