The charts show the main methods of transport of people travelling to one university in 2004 and 2009.
The given charts compare two years (2004 and 2009) in terms of the proportion of five chief means of transportation of citizens travelling to a particular college.
Generally, it canb be seen clearly that commuting by train was the least favored form of transportation, while there was a change, from car to bus, for the most commonly used form of transport over the five-year period.
Looking at the charts in more detail, in the year 2004, travelling by cars to university was the most popular for students and the percentage of car travelers held the lion’s share of the total used form of transport, with 51%. The second famous one was using bus to commute to college, which made up a third of the entirety five chief methods of transport, with 33%. Three others means of transportation were at the bottom and the figures for pupils riding a bike, going on foot and taking a train were 9%, 4% and 3%, respectively.
Turning to the figure in the year 2009, using automobile and bus still were two most common methods for students, but there was a change. Travelling by bus became the first choice of pupils, which constituted 28% (increased 13% compared to the figure 5 years ago), while going to university by car ranked the second place. The proportion of car users was 28%, which dropped by approximately half in comparison with that of in the year 2004. The percentage of bicycle users rose slightly, which was 16% in 2009. The figures for train travelers and walkers remained almost the same, with 4% and 6%, in turn and were still the least favored forms of transportations.
