Essay topics:

Chorleywood is a village near London whose population has increased steadily since the middle of the 19th century. The map below shows the development of the village.

Write a report for a university, lecturer describing the information shown below.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The map illustrates expansion of Chorleywood town due to constant increase in population from year 1868 to 1994.

Overall, it is evident that the town was inhabited by minimal individuals during the first 15 year period and the town had just two streets which connected them to other areas. Later, as the railways were built in the year 1909 the town experienced a steady increase in population around the Chorleywood station as it was one of the convenient source of travelling to other towns or cities.

Furthermore, the construction of motorway in 1970 influenced development of town as most of it was developed after the introduction of motorway (from 1970 to 1994). Numerous individuals flocked into the town and built their houses besides motorway and railway. The only thing which remained constant in this urbanization process was the Chorleywood park and golf course which existed since the town was established.

In conclusion, the town of Chorleywood experienced notable growth in both population and infrastructure within the given tenure.
