Cinema attendance by age group
The line graph describes the percentage of people in four different age group went to cinema from 1984 to 2000.
Overall, all of four age group saw the increase trends despite some fluctuations during the survey period. Age group of 15-24 held the highest proportion during this period.
In 1984, only 16% of 15-24-year-old men and women attended the cinema, compared to only 10% of those aged 7-14. The figure then climbed to its peak of 58%, which was also the highest point of the whole graph and dropped down to about 55% in 2000. During the same time, age group of 7-14 increased to 32%.
At the beginning of the survey, only 1% people who were over 35 years old showed up at the cinema. This then steadily increased to 14% at the end of the period, although it remained the lowest proportion among four groups. Age group of 25-35, started with about 4%, experienced a sharper increase even though it fluctuated more than the over 35s. This group finished at the same figure with 7-14-year-old attendance at 32%.
