The diagram explains the production of electricity in a hydroelectric power station from day to night.

In general, the process commences with the collecting of water from a river and ends with power transmitted into the national grid.

First, water from a river flows in the high-level reservoir that is retained by a dam. By day, the intake is opened in order for the water to flow through a pipeline. Next, the water goes into reversible turbines, generating electricity, operated by a generator, then is transferred into the national grid via power lines. After going through the turbines, water flows into the low-level reservoir.

When night comes, the procedure is reversed. Water from the low-level reservoir is pumped back into the turbines and through the duct to provide water for daytime's work.
