The diagrams below show some principles of house design for cool and for warm climates.
The pictures compare some different basic characteristics in house construction for hot and cold weathers.
Overall, the designation for cool climate tends to reduce the heat loss while the structure of a house, in a warmer climate, tends to remove the heat from outside.
In the first diagram, the house is built with a thermal material that can store the temperature. Furthermore, the outside of the house is covered by the insulation layer which prevents the heat loss. Besides, the incline high-angled roof and the opening window are designed to help the house acquire more sunlight.
In the second picture, the overhanging roof is built with reflective material to block the heat from outside and is designed to create the shade for the house. By contrast, the insulation layer is constructed just below the roof to separate the inside with higher temperature from outside. Moreover, windows are closed and covered, in the daytime, to reduce the heat from the sun while it will be opened to help the house ventilation in the night.
