The first chart below shows the results of a survey which sampled a cross-section of 100,000 people asking if they traveled abroad and why they traveled for the period 1994-98.
The second chart shows their destinations over the same period.
There are two information sources, one of them is in the form of table which represents number of U.K residents visiting abroad for various reasons, the other source of information is bar graph which shows that where they travelled.
The table comprises of summary of travel data of four years starting from 1994 to 1998 . It has been observed that in that entire duration resident of U.K love to spend holidays outside country than any other reasons. In year 1994 out of 22,072 people who travelled outside U.K 15,246 travelled only to spend holidays, followed by business , visits to friends and relatives and other reasons. Out of these most of the people love to travel to western Europe, when compared to North America and other areas. This trend continued till 1998.
However there is a decrease in the number of people spending holidays in year 1995 when compared to year 1994 and increase in the number of people travelling for business by small amount then too the people going outside of U.K for holidays remains at the top for the year.
As per the information depicted in table highest number of people travelled in year 1998 and more that half of them travelled for holiday purpose. Their were 28,828 travellers in 1998 and about 20,700 travelled only for the purpose to spend vacation.
