Line graph birth rates in China and the USA

The line graph compares the birth rates in China and the USA and shows how these figures changed from 1920 to 2000.
Overall, both nations' birth rates decreased over the period of 80 years. Although two trends were similar in terms of a gradual decline, the rate in the USA was higher than that of China.
During the 20-year period from 1920 to 1940 , the rate in the USA fluctuated slightly though always remained above 10%. However, in 1945, the figure for people born in the USA significantly dived to only 5% before shooting up to 15% and reached its highest peak in the year 1950. Throughout the remainder of the period, the rate saw a gradual drop to only around 7% by 2000.
China's birth rate varied more significantly though remained lower than that in the USA. The year 1935 experienced a sharp tumble to only 5% and levelled off 5 years before rocketing to 20% and reached the highest point in the whole line graph. However, there was a considerable tumble in the following years to approximately 2% in 2000.
