It can be clearly seen from the graph that the energy consumption was greater that its production. However, both of them are expected to continue to rise until 2025 according to the chart.
Both categories of US consumption and production followed more or less the same trend. They both grew considerably to around 60 energy units in 1975 despite some fluctuations in the earlier given period. In contrast, there were mild variations during around 1980-1990 in the proportion of energy produced while the figure of consumption increased to 75 energy units after that trend.
Nevertheless, the amount of energy consumed is forecast to soar to 150 enregy units in 2025 afte growing to 100 energy units in 2000. Furthermore, there would be a slight increase in the share of production of energy to 75 energy units.
