The chart shows data according to a report of 2008 about energy consuming in America from 1980 with predictions to 2030.
Overall, the consumption numbers of petrol and oil, coal are increasing sharply within 5 decades, while the figures of natural gas, nuclear are experiencing a gentle growth, and the data with solar/wind and hydropower are remaining almost the same during the mean time.
Petrol and oil consuming quantities started at 35 quadrillion units(QU), had a fluctuation in the first 15 years then become raising steadily in the rest of the years and end at nearly 50 QU. Coal’s number began at more than 15 QU, rose to approximately 22 QU in 1995 and kept this number for more than 20 years, then gradually soars to double its initial number in 2030.
Natural gas’s figure had dramatic downs and ups throughout the period from 1980 to 2015, after that keeps a perfectly same number every year, starting from 20 QU in 1980 to nearly 25 QU in the year of 2030. Nuclear, solar/wind and hydropower consumption number was the same initially, less than 5 QU. Half century later, the figure of nuclear will increase by 5 QU more, whilst solar/wind will gently grow to 5 QU, and hydropower will still stay below 5 QU.
