Overall, it is clear that Malaysia and Indonesia will rise in an significantly trend and make up a large percentage of the population living in cities in the Asia, while the other countries will increase moderately.
People who come from Malaysia prefer to live in the cities, with the figure increasing dramatically from 30% of total population to 75% between 1970 to 2020, and this is projected to persist reaching to about 85% in 2040. The percentage of the population living in cities in Indonesia was the second high countries in the Asia, which rised significantly from 14% to 50%, as well as the prediction population is account for 62% in 2040.
However, the proportion of the population living in cities in the other countries showed some fluctuation between 1970 and 2040. The percentage of the population living in cities in Philippines increased from 31% to 50% from 1970 to 1990, while decreased in the after 20 years from 50% to 40%, and the prediction of the population increase from 50 % to 55%. Meanwhile, the Thailand is in the same trend, which increased from 19% to 30% from 1970 to 1990, while declined from 29%to 27% between 1990 to 2000, and the prediction will increase from 35% to 45% between 2030 and 2040.
