The line graph illustrates how much money were spent on books in four countries (Germany, France, Italy, Austria) in the time span between 1995 and 2005.
It is clear from the graph that Germany spent the largest amount of money on books all over the years whereas Austria the smallest one until 2002 when overtook Italy which reveals to be the country with the least expenditure at the end of the period.
Germans spent between around 80,000,000 and 95,000,000 $ on books during the ten years exhibiting a moderate fluctuating trend. A similar trend is also shown by France and Italy which varied less than 15 million USD from the beginning to the the end of the period. In fact, in 1995 French and Italians spent approximately 55 and 50 million respectively and in 2005 France resulted to an expenditure of just above 70,000,000 $, significantly higher than that of Italy which was around ten million lower.
Conversely, Austria shows the most varied trend since after a moderate growth in the 90s, passing from 30 in 1995 to 40 million $ by 1999, saw firstly a steady trend until 2001, then began to steeply increased crossing Italy in 2002 at just below 60 million USD. The growth continued and in 2005 Austria had almost reached the expenditure of France.
