The line chart demonstrates the approximate amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in metric tonnes in the UK, Italy, Sweden, Portugal within 4 decades from 1967 to 2007.
It is clear that the amount of carbon dioxide emissions in the United Kingdom and Sweden diminished after 40 years. On the other hand, the way of changing was different. CO2 emissions in the UK was reducing steadily during the whole period. However, in Sweden it was sharply increased after the first decade, but after it was diminishing the whole last period.
The situation in transforming the level of CO2 emissions in Italy and Portugal was quite same. It was dramatically increased after the first decade. After it was still increasing in a period from 1977 to 1997, but the speed of changing was slower and was not permanent. Last ten years the amount of CO2 emissions was fluctuating.
Overall, the level of CO2 emissions in the four countries was quite different at the beginning of the period. But at the end, the differences between the four countries was not so huge and the level of CO2 emissions started to change from approximately six CO2 emissions in metric tonnes in Portugal and Sweden to 9 in the United Kingdom.
