The line graph indicates how much carbon dioxide emitted in four countries; the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy, and Portugal per person from 1967 to 2007.
Overall, it is clear that while there were upward trends in the CO2 emission in Portugal and Italy, the figure for the United Kingdom and Sweden experienced the opposite trend.
Looking at the changes in more detail, we can see that in 1967 the CO2 emission of Protegual was about 1.5 Metric Tonnes (MT) per person. Having seen a moderate rise to reach just under 4 in 1987, following a slight increase until 1997 in 5(MT), when the number leveled off till 2007. In 1967, Italian's CO2 emission per person was about 4.1(MT) per person, after a sharp increase in the following year reached just over 6(MT). For the three years later with a moderate fluctuation reached 7.9(MT), where became stable until the end of the period.
On the other hand, the two other countries, in 1967 the United Kingdom and Sweden were at the first and second positions of emitting CO2(11(MT) and 8.5(MT) respectively). For Sweden, the figure dramatically went up to a peak of nearly 10.4(MT) in 1977, then experienced a significant decrease to reach 7(MT) in 1987. For three years the amount of CO2 emission declined steadily until 2007 it was at the same level as Portugal about 7(MT). The United Kingdom CO2 emission experienced a smooth decrease from about 11(MT) to 8.5(MT) at the end of the period.
