The line graph illustrates the general disposal of carbon dioxide (CO2) per individual in four countries, namely the UK, Sweden, Italy, and Portugal from 1967 to 2007.
Overall, while the United Kingdom and Sweden reduced their emissions, Italy and Portugal experienced increases in their domestic carbon dioxide during the time surveyed.
Looking into the graph, it is noticeable that the United Kingdom started the 40-year period with the top position, which was followed by Sweden, Italy and Portugal respectively. During the first ten years, apart from the UK, all other countries emitted an increased amount of carbon dioxide, with the gaps being about 1 ton. Subsequently, Sweden obtained a significant decline from 10 tonnes to 7 tonnes over the next ten years before continuing to undergo a gradual decrease to beneath 6 tonnes in 2007. Italy and Portugal both had an opposite trend, with figures going up gradually from 4 and 1 ton to nearly 8 and 6 tonnes in turn to surpass Sweden regarding the disposal of carbon dioxide. The United Kingdom still topped the chart in 2007, but with a lower number of CO2 emissions of nearly 9 tonnes
