The graph below shows average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per person in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal between 1967 and 2007.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The line chart illustrates the average amount of carbon dioxide discharged by each person in four different countries from 1967 to 2007.
Overall, while the average CO2 emissions per person in the United Kingdom and Sweden showed downward trends, the sectors of Italy and Portugal rose dramatically.
Started at well over 10 tonnes in 1967, the mean carbon dioxide emitted per one American person was the highest in comparison with other countries. This figure then experienced a steady decrease by 2 tonnes in 2007, however, it still was the predominance among the four countries. The average carbon dioxide emissions per person in Sweden, which ranked second in 1967 with over 8 tonnes, after hitting the highest point at about 10 tonnes in 1977, dramatically declined to under 6 tonnes in 2007.
By contrast, the amount of CO2 released by each person in average of both Italy and Portugal witnessed a steep growth. Started at about 4 tonnes and slightly under 2 tonnes in 1967, the CO2 emissions by person in Italy and Portugal respectively increased to nearly 8 tonnes and well over 4 tonnes in 1997. The sector of Italy then leveled off until 2007 whereas the figure for Portugal mildly rose and met that of Sweden at under 6 tonnes in 2007.
