The bar graph illustrates the percentages of three different sectors - agriculture, manufacturing and business and financial services - contributing to the British economy in the last century.
Overall, although economy of the United Kingdom was supplied mostly by Agricultural sector during the first half of the century, it was dominated by Business and Finance sphere in the end of the period.
The least considerable proportion at the beginning of the period was for Business and Financial sector at nearly 5%, while numbers for Agriculture were slightly as many as for Manufacturing, around 49% and 45% respectively. Following this, figures for Business sector climbed considerably up to around 35% by the end of the period, whereas Manufacturing had experienced a gradual decline to a mere 10% by 1975, before dipping markedly to approximately 15% in 2000.
It is clearly seen from the graph that the most significant percentages were made up by Agriculture. In 1950 it accounted for just over one second of the total contribution; however, it fell steeply after a quarter of the century to one-tenth. Moreover, the figures for Agriculture had seen another downward trend in 2000, finishing the period by just under 5%.
