The graph illustrates the consumption of 3 spreads since 1981 to 2007. The data were measured in grams. Overall, it can be seen that the data decreased significantly along decades although, in 1996, low fat & reduced spreads which was a dramatic increase.
Moving to a more detailed analysis, the consumption of butter was higher than margarine over three-quarter decades. In 1986s, the number of Butter was a fair increase, representing around 160 grams. However, butter consumption decreased dramatically almost 80 grams after fifteen years. In the same period, margarine was consumed by people which was a slight decline approximately 80 grams afterwards, the data increased gradually at 100 grams in 1991.
Moreover, from 1993s to 2007, the amount of butter continued to jump almost 50 grams in the last years. Following by margarine consumptions remained constant during three years, yet the trend showed a significant fall, accounting at 40 grams. In the 1996s, the consumption of low fat and reduced spreads began at a low level. Subsequently, low fat and reduced spreads grew rapidly in 2001 despite in the last period, it was a gradual decrease.
