The graph provided compares England’s electricity consumption throughout a winter day to that in a summer day; and the pie charts represents the information on the purposes which the electricity is used for.
Overall, it is clearly from the two charts that the amount of electricity consumed during a day fluctuates in both winter and summer although the figure is much higher in the former than the latter; and it is mostly used for heating rooms and water.
As can be seen from the graph that over the first three hours of a day, the demand for electricity in winter rises sharply, peaking at approximately 40,000 units at 3:00. Then followed by a significant decline to a bottom of just over 30,000 at 7:00. In contrast, the first 9 hours in a summer day sees a steady fall in the energy needed, reaching a low of 12,000 units. After that the amount of electricity climbs to the highest point of over 20,000 at 14:00. During a 4-hour period between 21:00 and 24:00, there are gradual increase in the demand for electricity in the winter, as well as in the summer, reaching a peak of nearly 50,000 and around 20,000 units respectively.
According to the pie chart, the majority of electricity is used for heating. There is a precisely the same share on the usage for lighting, TV, radio and the usage for vacuum cleaners, food mixers and electric tools, being 15%. The remainders. 17,5%, is for ovens, kettles and washing machines.
