The graph below shows electricity production in terawatt hours in France between 1980 and 2012. summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant. You should write at least 150 words.
Given is a line graph which illustrates the production of electricity in France over a 32 years period from 1980 to 2012.
A glance at this graph depicts that the nuclear power was by far the most important source of electricity production in this period; in contrast, the renewables had a small role in this area.
In 1980 thermal power was the main source of electricity production by more than 100 terawatts per hour. In contrast, renewable was the least important source with no electricity power production. Meanwhile, the Hydroelectric and nuclear powers, with more than 50 terawatts per hour production, were in the same place.
It is clear that in a few years, the nuclear power dramatically rose to a peak of approximately 450 terawatts per hour in 2005, while hydroelectric power fluctuated in the same level (near 50 terawatts per hour) over this period of 32 years. On the other hand, thermal power fell to less than 100 terawatts per hour in 1980 and stayed at there for the rest of this given period.
