The bar chart illustrates the employment rates of both males and females between 6 countries (Australia, Switzerland, Iceland, UK, New Zealand and USA) for the years 1995 & 2005. The employment units for all countries in the graph is in percentages.
Overall, the graph provides a comparative figure of employment for two years (1995 & 2005) which depicts that the numbers have improved from 1995 to 2005. In both years, Iceland records the highest percentage of men being employed in contrast to Australia recording the lowest figures. For females, Switzerland is at the top for the best employment figures overall, while placing New Zealand and Australia at the bottom.
In terms, in the both the years (1995 & 2005), the employed male percentage for Iceland stood above 70% and 80% respectively which is the highest between countries. Similarly, the Swiss females topped the employment figures across all countries in the bar chart with 1995 recording over 50% and 2005 was nearly 70%. At the bottom, Australian men maintain the least employment rates, constant for both years. However, the lowest employment rates for females were depicted in the graph between New Zealand and Australia for the years 1995 and 2005 respectively.
It is also observed that the employment figures for women in New Zealand jumped from just over 25% to nearly 40%. In addition, the percentage of females employed compared to males were nearly at half for both the years in Australia and New Zealand.
