The line graph compares the number of male and female students who read books in the library at Starmouth School in the period from 2006 to 2012.
Overall, boys were seen to prefer reading books more than girls. These trends followed a similar pattern from 2009 to 2011. However, there was an upward trend in the number of books read by male students throughout the period, while the number of books read by female students witnessed a downward trend from 2011 to 2012.
It is immediately apparent that the number of books read by boys was expected to rise significantly. There was a slight increase in the number of books read by boys from 2009 to 2011, at 100 books (in 2011). In addition, from 2011 to 2012, there was a steady rise, with 140 books at the end of the period.
Nevertheless, the number of girls who are likely to read books was anticipated to grow sharply from 2009 to 2011.The number of books read by female students was anticipated to grow sharply from 2009 to 2011. As a result, they reached and hit the mark with the same number of books read by the boys, at 100 books. However, there was a rapid fall in the number of books read by the female students. By 2012, the number fell from 100 in 2011 to 80 books.
