The graph below shows the number of shops that closed and the number of new shops that opened in one country between 2011 and 2018.
The given line graph provides a comparison of the shop closures and the start-up businesses in one nation over a seven-year period.
From an overall perspective, it is highlighted that both models witnessed a fluctuated pattern over the years shown.
According to data on the diagram, it is conspicuous that the number of new shops was more than 2000 stores when compared with the closed shops in 2011. Subsequently, the volume of shop closures reached a peak in 2013 while the others were in the next year after that. However, from 2014 to 2015, both categories experienced a dramatic downward trend. In this period, the number of new stores was roughly higher than 3 times when compared with closed shops. Consequently, at the end of the period, shop closures are more than 2000 stores as the others.
Noticeably, it is evident that both types of businesses met the same record in 2014, with the number of around 6000 shops. Following that, the new brand stores were down by 2000 stores while the shop closures decreased by 6000 stores. In spite of the varied pattern, the number of opening and closing stores stood at 3000 and 5000 shops respectively.
