The line chart illustrates how many people traveled to a Caribbean island and where did they stay during their visit over a 7 years period.
Overall, the number of tourists to the island saw a general increase from 2010 to 2017 with more people choosing to stay on the island than to spend their time on cruise ships. However, it is apparent from the graph that this pattern did not hold over the entire period.
In 2010, one million people visited the island in total. Among them, around 700,000 tourists settled on the island, whereas the number of people who spent their holidays on cruise ships was lower at approximately 250,000. Between this year until 2013, the figure for those staying on the island saw a moderate increase by about half a million. Remaining constant at 1.5 million for around two years, the number of visitors saw a minimal fall to less than 1.2 million, followed by a small rise of 300,000 until 2017. The number of tourists associated with those who stayed on cruise ships, on the other hand, grew steadily over the entire period, exceeding that of people who settled on the island around mid-2015.
