Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

This bar chart gives data on how many vehicles are possessed per thousand population by Chinese between over two-yearly intervals between 1987 and 1999. At the first glance, it is clear that the whole period witnessed a significant increase in ownership of means of transportation

In 1987 the number of vehicles in use per thousand people stood at around 300, followed by a twofold rise to reach more or less 500 vehicles by late eighties. The figure continued to go up steadily during the next 4 years which amounted to 1000 vehicles per thousand people

During the second half of nineties, the rate of increase in vehicle ownership skyrocketed. To begin with, around 2000 vehicles were registered by a thousand Chinese individuals in 1995 before jumping up by 50% in 1997 to 3000 vehicles. After that, the number of vehicles per thousand reached a peak of just over 4000 by the end of the given period, over double that of 1995 and 13 times more than 1987’s.
