This bar chart gives data on how many Chinese people possess vehicles between 1987 and 1999. It is apparently seen that more and more people were heavily relying on means of transportation over a 12 – year period.
Now, turning to the details, the number of cars per thousand people stood at around 300 vehicles in 1987. This figure almost doubled by late eighties to reach just above 500 vehicles. China continued to see a steady rise during the next 4 years which amounted to 1000 vehicles per thousand people
During the second half of nineties, the rate of increase in vehicle ownership skyrocketed. To begin with, around 2000 vehicles were registered by a thousand Chinese individuals in 1995. This figure went up by 50% in 1997 to 3000 vehicles. After that, an amount of vehicles per thousand jumped to 4100 by the end of the given period. Furthermore, it is interesting to note that the figure of 1999 was double that of 1995 and 13 times more than 1987’s.
