The line chart compares the proportion of people in 4 various age range going to the cinema monthly in Great Britain over a 16-year period.

Overall, the shares of people in 4 age groups who went to the movie once a month followed an upward trend. Also, the rate of people aged 15-24 going to the film monthly was always the highest compared to other age groups.

In 1984, the percentage of the 15-24 age group who went to the movie every month was around 17%, much higher than the rate of people agedup35, at a mere of roughly 1%. The period between 1984 and 2000 witnessed a gradual increase in the proportion of people age 15-24 and 35 and visiting the movie theater monthly, by about 58% and 15% respectively.

Regarding the other categories, initiating at 10% in 1984, the percentage of cinema-goers in the 7-14 age bracket significantly increased to about 37% in 1999 before slightly increasing by 32% in the next year. Meanwhile, the figure for persons in the 25-25 age range experienced an increase to roughly 25% in 1994 before a 5-year period of stability from 1994 to 1999. Over the next 5 years, an increase of approximately 7% was witnessed in the share of people aged 25-35 going to the cinema once a month in 2000.
