What stands out from the graph is that the number of students of all three languages will have a upward trends. Another interesting point is that more people will have studied English than other languages over the given period.
Looking at the details, as for the number of students of Spanish, it will start at just over 200 million. Then, the figure will have a gradual increase to nearly 500 million in 2030, which will mean that a significant lower people will have studied Spanish than other languages. If we look at Mandarin, we will see a sharp rise in its number of students. By 2020, the figure is set just a low of 100 million. But it will rocket to reach 550 million at the end of the period.
Likewise, projections show that the number of students of English is likely to increase significantly. It will begin at 550 million in 2020 and rise considerably to approximately 700 million in 2024. The figure will have a steady rise after a slight decrease and hit a peak at just over 700 million in 2030.
