To begin with, it can be clearly seen that in between three given countries, Japan had the least 65 and over age group in 1940, despite showing a slight decrement it reached the same level as beginning in 2000. After that, it is predicted that it will rise substantially, and between 2020 and 2040 it will grow sharply to over 25%.
To continue with, when it comes to the proportion of the population in Sweden and the USA, although they started at different percentages, the same changes were observed in the first 60 years of the given period of time. After that while, the USA remained constant for around 20 years at 15%, whilst Sweden grew substantially in the same period to 20%. Later, it is forecasted that both countries will reach just under 25% by 2040.
In conclusion, even though some fluctuations between Sweden and USA, they mostly have the same patterns, whereas Japan started from the lowest ratio, nevertheless it will pass those other two countries.
