The graph below shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three different countries.

The chart below gives information about the percentage of old age group (65 or over years old) in three countries around the world in one hundred years between 1940 and 2040.

Overall, we can notice that this group is getting bigger, and it is estimated to grow significantly in the next years.
It can be observed from the graph that Sweden and America have similar patterns, in 1940 the percentage of senior group was below 10% in both countries, before it increased fairly to about 15% in 1980, in addition, since the beginning of the new century Sweden has risen slightly to 20%, America, in contrast have managed to maintain this group at the same level, however, it is expected that one in four people will be aged 65 years or over in 2040.

In the other hand, Japan succeeded in keeping the old age group at the same level until 2000 when the group have started a slight grow to reach 7.5% by now, and it is clear that japan will have the same fate as America and Sweden and even worse in 2040.
