Essay topics:

The graph below shows the quantities of goods transported in the UK between 1974 and 2002 by four different modes of transport.

The line graph illustrates how many goods
transported by four different types of transport namely, Pipeline,Rail,Water,Road in British over a course of 28 years starting from 1974.

Overall, there was a downward trend in the quantity of products transported by Road ,Water, Pipeline, in the UK while the trend for Railways experienced a contrasting movement in 1994 before rising back to the same level at the end of the period. Additionally, the highest amount of goods transported via Road whereas that of Pipeline was the least commonly used groups of transportation throughout the whole period frame.

To begin, from 1974 to 1994, the number of products delivered increased slightly to just under 80 million tonnes then its continued upward trend more significantly at around 100 million tonnes. Moreover, the figure for Railways and Water was exactly similar, with both around 40 million tonnes over a period of first four years. In addition, Water transported goods which grew mildly to approximately 50 million tonnes, but later decreased a little of 10 million tonnes before growing to nearly 60 million tonnes in the last year. In contrast, Rail delivering products declined considerably at 20 million tonnes in 1994 but then climbed remarkably to roughly over 40 million tonnes in 2002. Afterwards, between 1974 and 1994, there was a steadily rise in transportation of Pipeline, at around 20 million tonnes, which was the same number with Railways which led to a leveling out until the ending.
