The line graph depicts how many goods were delivered by four different means of transport in the UK from 1974 to 2002.
In general, the common trend in this diagram was an upward trend, except for rail. In addition, road transport had the highest figure.
Looking at the graph, we can see that delivering by road was the most popular, rising from 70 in 1974 to a peak of 98 in 2002. Meanwhile, waterways and pipelines had the same pattern in the first sixteen years. They both increased significantly by about 20 from 1974 to 1982, then remained stable at this figure until 1990. After that, pipelines dropped to 20 in 1994 before staying unchanged at this figure for the rest of the time, while waterways' figures continued to level off until 1994, followed by a significant decline to 50 in 1998 before growing sharply to 62 in 2002.
In terms of the railroad’s figure, in the first four years, it was stable at 40 before fluctuating around 35 in the remaining time of the period.
