The graph below shows trends in US meat and poultry consumption.
The line graph shows the amount of meat and poultry which was consumed per person over a period of 56 years in the U.S (measured in pounds).
Overall, it can be seen that, beef had some fluctuations throughout the period as a whole while there were no significant changes in pork and turkey.
It is clear that beef, which is the most popular type of meat fluctuated around 60 pounds at first and hit the highest value on record of 90 pounds in 1976, after which there was a gradual fall to nearly 50 pounds in 2012. As for Broilers, the only one experienced a sharp growth from 15 pounds since its first appearance in 1961 and reached a peak of 60 pounds in 2006 before starting to fall slowly to 50 pounds.
Regarding the least favorite one, turkey saw a slight increase from 5 pounds to approximately 15 pounds in 1997 then stayed unchanged until 2012. The figures for pork fluctuated between 40 pounds to 54 pounds from 1955 to 2010 and maintained at the same level in the last years.
