The line graph demonstrates the salary trends of three different industries in the US over the forty-year period from 1970 to 2010.
In general, the salaries for Professional sports, Engineering and IT experienced either a downward or an upward trend. As regards the first, the salary for people working in professional sports fluctuated slightly over the first thirty years with an upward tendency, reaching its peak at 145.000 in 2000. After that, there was a sudden fall to about 110.000 at the end of the period.
However, the earnings for both Engineering and IT went up by varying degrees.There was a rapid growth in the salary of IT workers. Originally, IT workers' payment accounted for the smallest 35.000 in 1970, then it exceeded the income for Engineering in 1985 ending the year up with 100.000. Furthermore, salaries for Engineering rose slowly from 55.000 to 70.000 over the period.
Overall, although the salary for Professional Sports is higher than for the others, it is the only one that had a noticeable decrease.
