The graph shows the quantities of goods transported to the UK between 1974 to 2002 by four different modes of transport.
The line graph illustrates the four types of transportation used in transporting commodities in the UK from the year 1974 up to the year 2002.
Overall, the most popular means of transportation during the period was by land and the least was by using pipeline.
The road transport was used in transporting nearly 70 million tonnes of products in 1974. It has a steady increased of more than 80 million tonnes in 1992, then it boosts to less than 100 million tonnes at the end of 2002. Transport by water remained stable at approximately 60 million tonnes from the year 1982 up to the year 1994. By the year 2002, it hauled more than 60 million tonnes of goods.
However, for the railway transport, it has a fluctuating trend in moving products. It touched the lowest point in 1994 at only over 20 million tonnes of goods. On the other hand, carrying goods by means of the pipeline has a slow faced inclined and remained constant at a little over 20 million tonnes of commodities at the end of 2002.
