The two charts give information about the cinema presence in Australia and the average cinema visits by distinct age groups between 1996 and 2000.
Overall, it is clear that the rate of cinema attendants tended to rise over time, while there was an opposite trend which could be seen in their frequency. Besides, the average cinema visits of four age groups fluctuated over the period.
In 1996, the percentage of people who went to the cinema accounted for 62%, the lowest proportion among years. The figure increased by 10% in both consecutive years and remained stable until 2000 (at 72%), despite a slight drop in 1999, at about 70%. By contrast, there were about 10.3 average cinema visits in 1996, which was followed by a moderate growth to 11,1 visits in 1997, before falling significantly to 8,3 visits in 2000.
There were hardly any changes when looking at the average number of movie visits in four age groups over time. In 1996, 14-24 was the age that went to the cinema the most, at 15 visits. Next came 25-25, 35-39, and 50+ with figures at about 14 visits, 13 visits, and 10 visits respectively. In the following years, the figures fluctuated and rose slightly to nearly 18 visits, 17 visits, 15 visits, and 14 visits in turn at the end of the period.
