IELTS practice for task 1 about maps of Meadowside village and Foton

The map illustrates the expansion of Meadowside village and Foton town over three different time periods (1962, 1985 and the present).
Overall, the village transferred into the suburb and merged with Foton town. Additionally, there was a significant alteration in the infrastructure, residential area and services sector in the town and village over the given time period.

In 1962, Medwood village was situated in the west, through which a small road crosses from the west to north. A railway track goes through Foton, which is located in the east. By 1985, the area of both Meadowside village and Foton increased significantly. There was a substantial development in Meadowside such as housing sector in the west, a complex for leisure activities in the north and a superstore in the west. The small road was enlarged to the main road and an addition road was constructed from Meadowside to Foton in the east.

At present, Meadowside is a suburb and merged with Foton town. Additional facilities are constructed in between Meadowside and Foton. For example, a railway station is seen in the centre beside that in the north is the hospital and opposite to the station is a student's park in the south. A railway track is linked to the station.
