The line graph below represents the comparison between production and consumption of oil in China from 1982 to 2006. Overall, it seems that before 1994 the production was higher than consumption, while the reverse is true post 1994.
In year 1982, the production of oil was just above 2 Millions of oil barrels per day, which is slightly higher than consumption. Moving forward till year 1986, the production had risen exponentially to around 3 Millions of barrels per day, post which it was steady till 1994. From 1994, the production rate was growing slightly and reached to nearly 3.5 Millions of barrels/day by 2006.
On the other hand, the consumption rate which started from just below 2 million of barrels/day remained steady till year 1990, and had shown increasing slope touching around 3.5 millions of barrels/per day in 1994, the consumption rate kept on rising almost above 6 millions of barrels/day by year 2006.
