Approximately 2.5% of the fixed line mobiles in Africa in 1994, with a subsequent slow increase in the following year and a final increase to 3.1 in 2004. Conversely, the figures for mobile increased rapidly from 2% to 3%, surpassing the fixed in 2001, followed by a rapid rise to 8.8% at the end of the period.
