Overall, the tourist ratios to art gallery and festival declined gradually over the time, whereas the percentage of other types showed an upward trend.
In 1980, art gallery was the most popular site with around 30% of travelers in England. Thereafter, the figure for gallery varied slightly for the next 35 years before dropping to approximately 30% in 2010. The increasing rate of tourists who paid a visit to festivals in England was around 20% before reaching its peak at 36% and decreasing to one-third of that in 2010.
By contrast, The Pier places were ranked last in 1980 with around 10% of visitors but overtaking festival proportion in 2005, before raising to around 25% in 2010. Around 26% of sightseers in Brighton took a tour to Pavillion in 1980 which grew steadily over the time to an all time high of 30% in 2010
