The line chart gives information about the amount of paper, sawn-wood and wood pulp produced in the UK between 1980 and 2000.
Overall, while the amount of paper and wood pulp follow an upward trend, the opposite is true for the figure for sawn-wood in the last period. Besides, of the three types of wood products, the amount of paper and packaging is always the largest throughout the period shown.
In 1980, paper production in the UK amounted to around 225 million tonnes, while only 200 million and about 175 million tonnes of sawn-wood and wood pulp was produced. In the year 1990, the paper and packaging production rose to 250 million. Also, this year witnessed a decrease in the production of both sawn wood and wood pulp. To be specific, there was a marginal drop of 50 million in the amount of sawn-wood produced and the wood pulp production gently decreased by approximately 25 million tonnes.
In 2000, after increasing slowly in 1990, the UK production of paper and packaging dramatically went up to 350 million. Meanwhile, there was an increasing fluctuation in the amount of wood-pulp produced, rising by about 20 million tonnes. Besides, the sawn-wood production still experienced a gradual dip to over 125 million.
