This line graph illustrates, comparison between radio listeners and television viewers above 4 years of age through the course of a whole day in 1992 in UK. Overall, it is clear that majority of population preferred to watch television.
To begin with, it is evident that after midnight slightly higher than 5% of the population watched TV while those listening to radio were below 5%. At around 2 o'clock the audiences of both TV and radio dropped down to the same level (2%). The same percentage of users continued till the dawn. Nevertheless, there was a significant rise in radio listening in the morning reaching a peak of 25% by 8 o'clock, whilst, television did not exceed its starting point till the dawn. However, there was a marked decline in the use of radio after 9 o'clock and it kept going down finishing the day at the same level it started. On the contrary, television viewers increased significantly in the noon surpassing radio listeners around 1 pm reaching a maximum level at night, almost half of the population used to watch TV by 9 pm. But this number decreased to 15% by an hour before midnight as majority of the population were off to their beds to finish the day.
