The line graph shows the size of the global population from 1400 to 2000, and the pie charts show the global population by region in 1900 and 2000. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
These graphs show trends in both global population throughout a period of 600 years (between 1400 and 2000) and region population distribution in the end of 20th century and in the beginning of 21st.
Looking overall the line graph, we can note moderate growth of world population from less than 500 million in 1400 to above 1 billion in 1700. During the reminder of the period, the increase was sharper, and only between 1700 and 1800 there was obvious decline which reached the point of 0.9 billion people. In the beginning of 21st century the population size was equal to 6 billion.
The pie charts show that in both 1900 and 2000 the majority of population lived in Asia, followed by Europe. As can be seen from the charts, there was a decline in percentage distribution in Asia as well as Europe from 60% to 54% and from 24% to 14% respectively. The North America kept a balance in 5 % of world population, when in Africa and Latin America we could see a significant growth accounted almost over 3 times of values in the end of 20th century (in Africa it became 13% and in Latin America 8%).
The percentage in other areas rose from 3,5% to 6%. In conclusion, most considerable changes in percentage population was in both Europe and Africa continents.
