Essay topics:

The line graphs show the production and demand for steel in million tonnes and the number of workers employed in the steel industry in the UK in 2010

The first given graph illustrates the amount of steel produced and demanded in Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the year 2010, while the second line graph provides the total of people working in steel factories at the mention places during the same time period.

Overall, the demand and the number of employers were higher than the production during the first half of the year. Then, on August all three values plummeted. However, on December the demanded amount of steel experimented a sudden increase, surpassing the other two figures.

The amount of material produced and the sum of workers followed a similar trend all year round. On the first month of 2010 both values had a rising pattern, reaching their highest numbers (5,000 million tones and just over 5,500 employers). Afterwards, they leveled off, to then drop slightly, reaching around 2,500 people and almost 3,000 million tones. Around August, they went up considerably, to finally suffered a dramatic decrease.

The volume of demanded steel fluctuated during the first half of 2010, peaking at three thousand million tones at the end of March. Then, it significantly declined until there was no demand just before December started. Finally, it upsurged.
